Esta comunicação objetiva demonstrar, a partir de uma perspectiva epistemológico-social, as relações entre a Arquivística e a Ciência da Informação (CI). Pressupõe-se que os processos utilizados pelas duas disciplinas, referentes ao tratamento, organização e disponibilização de informações, entrecruzam-se, guardadas as suas peculiaridades. Mais especificamente, desdobra-se nos seguintes objetivos: a) descrever as origens e a trajetória da Arquivística e da CI; b) identificar os estudiosos dessas disciplinas que contemplam suas abordagens sociais; c) e identificar seus entrecruzamentos teóricos e diálogos epistemológicos. Este trabalho justifica-se na sua tentativa de relacionar a Arquivística, no seu processo de formação e configuração como disciplina científica, com o campo científico da CI. Metodologicamente, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico concernente aos temas abordados nessas disciplinas. Os resultados alcançados nesse estudo identificam alguns fatores de convergência entre elas: a informação como objeto de estudo; a preocupação acerca da organização e preservação de memórias institucionais; a conexão de processos que envolvem a aquisição, produção, armazenamento, tratamento, organização, recuperação e disseminação de informações, com o fim de viabilizar o acesso aos usuários. Nesse sentido, conclui-se que há uma estreita relação teórico-epistemológica entre a Arquivística e a CI, marcada pela necessidade de solucionar as demandas de informação no contexto social.

This paper intends to demonstrate, through a social epistemological perspective, the relations between the Archival Science and the Information Science (IS). It is presupposed that the processes utilized by the two branches of knowledge concerning treatment, organization and availability of information cross, saved its peculiarities. More specifically, they extend into the following objectives: a) describe the origins and the trajectory of Archival Science and of IS; b) Identify the theoreticians of these disciplines who contemplate its social approaches and c) identify its theoretical crossings and epistemological dialogues. This paper justifies itself in its attempt to relate Archival Science, in its process of formation and configuration as a scientific discipline, with the IS scientific field. Methodologically, a bibliographical search was made concerning the topics approached in these two disciplines. The results achieved in this study identify some factors of convergence between them: the information as object of study; the preoccupation regarding the organization and the preservation of institutional memories; the connection of processes that involve the acquisition, the production, the storing, the treatment, the organization, the recovery and the dissemination of information in order to facilitate the access to users. In this sense, it is concluded that there is a close theoretical and epistemological relation between Archival Science and IS marked by the need of solving the information demands in a social context.
