This paper seeks to reflect about the experience of an workshop created by the Arquivo Público do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (APERS) which relates heritage education, history teaching and gender relations. Therefore, a review of the bibliography on gender
studies in historiography and its recent appropriation by the field of history teaching is made, aiming to understand the context and the pertinence of educational actions that relates the two themes. Finally, the workshop Desvendando o Arquivo Público is described and analyzed, seeking to reflect on its possibilities and potentialities as educational action problematizing the history of gender relations from the documentary heritage of the APERS.
