Entre 1997 e 2001, desenvolveu-se, no Brasil, o projeto cooperativo interinstitucional Conservação Preventiva em Bibliotecas e Arquivos, com o apoio das fundações Mellon, Vitae e da Commission on Preservation and Access. O projeto traduziu para o português, publicou e distribuiu, gratuitamente, 52 textos sobre preservação de acervos textuais, fotográficos, fílmicos, magnéticos e digitais. Realizou seminários nas cinco regiões do país e formou uma rede de cooperação que, nos anos seguintes, contribuíram na difusão de informações sobre conservação preventiva, envolvendo profissionais de um grande número de instituições.
Between 1997 and 2001 was developed in Brazil the cooperative inter institutional project Preventive Conservation in Libraries and Archives, with the support of Mellon Vitae and Commission on Preservation and Access foundations. The project translated into Portuguese and distributed for free 52 texts about the preservation of textual, photographic, filmic, magnetic and digital archives. Were also realized seminaries in the five Country regions and made a cooperation web that in the following years helped in the preventive conservation information dissemination involving professionals from a large number of institutions.
