O objetivo deste artigo é discutir o oferecimento de serviços educativos em arquivos públicos municipais, valendo-se da experiência do Núcleo Educativo do Arquivo Histórico Municipal de São Paulo. Com referenciais teóricos e levantamento da presença de setores educativos nas capitais, são discutidas a caracterização de um arquivo público de caráter permanente e as barreiras para a implementação de um núcleo comprometido com a difusão cultural democrática em um arquivo histórico.
The Educational Department of Arquivo Histórico Municipal de São Paulo: reflections on challenges and potential
Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
The aim of this article is to discuss the provision of educational services in municipal public archives, drawing on the experience of the Educational Unit at the Arquivo Histórico Municipal de São Paulo. With theoretical references and a survey of the presence of educational sectors in capital cities, the article discusses the characteristics of a public archive of a permanent nature and the barriers to implementing a unit committed to the democratic cultural dissemination in a historical archive.
