O estudo objetiva diagnosticar o estado de conservação do fundo arquivístico Humberto Nóbrega, especificamente o que diz respeito às condições físicas e ambientais, realizado nos anos de 2003 e 2004, um trabalho exaustivo, que resultou num relatório de mais de cem páginas, numa abordagem comparativa com a situação atual do mesmo acervo em 2007. Para tanto, adotou-se como critério metodológico o preenchimento de fichas diagnósticas, elaboradas especificamente para essa finalidade, acrescido da instalação de equipamentos necessários ao levantamento da taxa de Umidade e Temperatura, como o Termo-higrógrafo e o luximêtro, instalados por um período de sete dias consecutivos. A análise dos dados coletados obedeceu a procedimentos quantitativos e qualitativos. Os resultados apontaram para uma deficiência no que concerne à sua conservação e acondicionamento, podendo prejudicar a ação administrativa e o princípio de preservação e de memória. Os resultados comparativos, em 2007, revelaram uma lentidão no processo de implementação de uma política conservacionista, ratificando a necessidade de: valorização de uma política interna voltada para a preservação do acervo, elaboração do plano de avaliação e classificação documental; análise microbiológica; aplicação de tratamentos inertes para desinfestação documental; elaboração de regras de acesso, uso e circulação dos documentos; reestruturação física do espaço e adaptação da arquitetura atual do edifício que abriga o acervo; controle ambiental, inclusive com instalação de ar refrigerado, e capacitação dos servidores.
Physico-environmental diagnosis of Humberto Nóbrega’s Archive: analysis of its application

The aim of this study is to diagnose the state of conservation of Humberto Nóbrega’s Archive, specifically in relation to the physical and environmental conditions, which were first examined in 2003 and 2004, and as a consequence of a tiring work resulted in a report of more than 100 pages, being now approached comparatively with the present situation of the same archive in 2007. To such thing, the methodological criteria adopted was the process of filling in elaborated diagnostic forms, specially designed for this purpose, and also the installation of equipments necessary to the measurement of the Humidity and Temperature rates, such as hygrothermograph and luximeter that were installed in a period of seven days in a roll. The analysis of the collected data followed quantitative and qualitative procedures. The results showed that there is a deficiency in the conservation and arrangement, what might damage the administrative actions and the principle of preservation and memory. The comparative results of 2007 revealed a slowness in the process of implementation of a conservationist policy, ratifying the necessity of: Value of an internal policy aimed at the preservation of the archive; Development of a project of evaluation and classification of the documents; Microbiological analysis; Utilization of static treatments to the disinfection of documents; Development of access rules, use and circulation of documents; Restructure of the physical space and adaptation of the present architecture of the building which keeps the archive; Environmental control, including the installation of air conditioning; Training sessions for the employees.
