Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
This article proposes to discuss the inclusion of the Arquivo Nacional (The National Archive) in the events celebrating the five-hundred-year anniversary of the Portuguese discoveries, an event that has already been instituted in other Portuguese-speaking countries. To achieve this goal, the experience gained by the Research Sector in the survey of sources, exhibitions, and publications related to the subject has been retrieved. Subsequently, a project for a schedule of sources for the history of the discoveries has been presented. Finally, a description and analysis of the National Archive’s first initiative recording that event, namely the exhibition entitled "Tordesilhas and the New World limits," held in June 1994, are provided.
