The aim of this article is to present the Overseas Historical Archives (AHU) as an indispensable documentary repository for studying Portuguese overseas history and culture, as well as the history and culture of countries where the Portuguese have settled. The article offers a perspective on its documentary funds and collections, highlighting the AHU as a cultural institution of unparalleled importance for studying historical sources related to colonial Brazil.
