Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
Recognizing the risk of losing the digital heritage and that significance of preserving authentic records, the Committee on Electronic Records of the National Council on Archives of Brazil (CONARQ) presented a Charter on the Preservation of the Archival Digital Heritage, based on the Charter on the Preservation of Digital Heritage approved and adopted by UNESCO on 2003. The main purpose of the Brazilian Charter is to create a national forum to discuss and to start actions to reduce the consequences of digital heritage instability, which is at risk of being lost and untrustworthy. The Charter manifests the urgency of developing politics, strategies and actions that guarantee long term preservation and continuous access to digital records.
