Brazilian Labor Justice Archives: rethinking the disposal policy for labor cases records
Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
The perspectives on the subject of the archives present themselves in different forms in the organs integrating the Judiciary Power in Brazil. The preservation of judicial processes is defended, since these documentary sources make possible the representation of memory. Concomitantly, the eliminations of completed cases, within the scope of Labor Justice, have been questioned, since these documents can serve as evidence in other institutions. This study results from the analyzes produced in the National Meetings of the Memory of Labor Justice, which, in part, deal with the universe of labor justice files. It was sought to find out the exhibitions of these Meetings concerning the theme “archives”, problematizing the understandings and positions of the actors involved, in the archival scope. Also presented are the analyzes of Meetings of the National Council of Archives that emphasized the issue of labor lawsuits. Lastly, we highlight the positions that reinforce the need for archival policies that guarantee the preservation and access to these documentary sources.
