The concern with preserving the scientific memory of the nearly 50 years of operation of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas of State University of Campinas (FCM/Unicamp) has intensified lately, within the institution. In 2008, as part of this process was creating the Center for Memory and Archive (CMA/FCM), an agency archival system that integrates the University Archives (Siarq/Unicamp). Be oriented, in addition to an institutional archive, an “archive of science" - as defined by Paulo Elian dos Santos - the CMA has been involved in setting up a representative collection of documents the activities of the FCM/Unicamp and relevant to the theme of the History of Health Sciences Thus, in conjunction with the Sectoral Committee of Archives of FCM, the CMA has been planning and developing actions “document management” in the various departments, research centers, laboratories and administrative areas of the academic unit, trying to involve in this process, teachers, students and staff. As a result, the CMA/FCM has been a collection that offers possibilities for research about the teaching of health sciences in the levels of undergraduate, graduate and residency of the institution and its administrative history, as well as about scientific publications related to this field of knowledge. Thus, we propose to present and discuss the experience of training scientific collection which is being developed at the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas/Unicamp, taking into account the acquisition policy of the CMA/FCM production and as a means of preserving the memory of this scientific institution.
