Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
This work contributes to the discussions on the interlocutions between theories in the area of archival science and linguistics, being a partial result of a bibliographic review made in a thesis defended in the Postgraduate Program in Letters of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) called “The discourse on death in 19th century institutional archives”. The article aims to present theoretical reflections about the presence of documents with the discourse on death in institutional archives. As a result, death certificates from the end of the 19th century are found in municipal archives, with different forms and discourses reflecting the lack of normalization at the time of documentary production. The line between the public and the private is considered tenuous, as access to originals and digital representatives is now allowed on the web.
