O artigo apresenta o resultado de pesquisa realizada em laboratórios com o objetivo de verificar a relação do cientista e a preservação dos documentos. O método de coleta de dados foi por meio de entrevistas com aplicação de questionário. Os resultados mostram que os cientistas têm liberdade de decisão sobre a documentação gerada nos laboratórios e não há definição ou distinção entre o que é público ou privado no âmbito dos laboratórios. O referencial teórico utilizado na pesquisa apontava para esta questão e serviu de pressupostos para a elaboração do questionário.
The article presents the results of research carried out in laboratories with the objective of verifying the relationship of the scientist and the preservation of documents. The method of data collection was through interviews with the application of a questionnaire. The results show that scientists have freedom of decision on the documentation generated in laboratories and there is no definition or distinction between what is public or private in the laboratory. The theoretical framework used in the research pointed to this question and served as assumptions for the preparation of the questionnaire.
