Criado em 1981, como parte do projeto de modernização do Arquivo Nacional, o grupo de pesquisa Memória da Administração Pública Brasileira (MAPA) tinha como objetivo inicial atender às áreas técnicas no processo de identificação e organização dos conjuntos documentais sob a guarda da instituição. Este artigo apresenta a trajetória institucional dessa experiência pioneira, a construção de uma metodologia própria que procurou retratar a dinâmica administrativa e suas constantes transformações –fornecendo o registro rigoroso e padronizado da organização do governo central e do Poder Executivo federal em diversos momentos históricos –e a constituição de uma base de dados sobre o tema.
Administrative history in the archivalinstitution: the National Archive MAPA project

Created in 1981as part of the project to modernize the National Archives, the research group Memória da Administração Pública Brasileira (MAPA) initially aimed to meet the technical areas in the process of identifying and organizing the sets of documents held by the institution. This article presents the institutional trajectory of this pioneering experience, the construction of its own methodology, sought to portray the administrative dynamics and its constant transformations, thus providing a rigorous and standardized record of the organization of the central government and the federal Executive Power in different historical moments, and the creation of a database on the subject
