A pesquisa objetiva discutir propostas para o aprimoramento das noções de salvaguarda e de preservação em repositórios digitais por meio da análise da legislação arquivística pertinente. A metodologia empregou: a) abordagem hipotético-dedutiva; b) procedimentos qualitativo, quantitativo e comparativo e c) técnicas de análise documental e temática. Em conclusão, a noção de salvaguarda, de modo distinto da de preservação, trata exatamente de assegurar a preservação, e neste sentido nós vemos a implementação de um Repositório Arquivístico Digital de Preservação, conforme decidimos denomina-lo, como uma ação de salvaguarda.
Preservation, safeguard of public information, and digital repositories: notions in the agenda

The research aims to discuss proposals for improving the notions of preservation and safeguardingin digital repositories, distinguishing each other, based on analysis of properly archival legislation. The methodology includes: a) hypothetical deductive approach; b) qualitative, quantitative, and comparative procedures; and c) techniques of documentary and thematic analysis. In conclusion, the notion of safeguarding, differently from the one of preservation, deals exactly to ensure the preservation. In this way, we see the implementation of an Archival Digital Preservation Repository, as we decided to call it, as an action of safeguarding.
