O artigo retoma as noções de regimes “representativo” e “estético”, de Jacques Rancière, para pensar o momento moderno de profusão de documentos e sua multiplicidade de vozes, sintetizadas na noção do “excesso de palavras”. A hipótese é que esse recurso estético permite esclarecer uma nova tessitura da memória social, onde política, estética e historiografia se entrelaçam, apontando para uma reconfiguração do estatuto representacional dos arquivos como acontecimento e outras possibilidades de sua mobilização.
“The excess of words”: archives, representation and historiography in the aesthetic thought of Jacques Rancière
Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
The article takes up Jacques Rancière’s notions of “representative” and “aesthetic” regimes to consider the modern moment of document profusion and their multiplicity of voices, synthesized under the notion of an “excess of words”. The hypothesis is that his aesthetic resource allows for a clarification of a new contexture of social memory, where politics, aesthetics and historiography intertwine, pointing to a reconfig-uration of the representational status of archives as an event and other possibilities for their mobilization.
