O curso de Arquivologia da Unirio foi o primeiro curso de nível superior da área no Brasil, advindo do Curso Permanente de Arquivos e outros cursos avulsos do Arquivo Nacional, podendo, por esta peculiaridade, ser considerado um marco da Arquivologia no país. Este trabalho tem como objetivo mapear a trajetória do curso de Arquivologia da Unirio, seus primórdios, sua evolução curricular, o perfil do corpo discente e o corpo docente, assim como os eventos da área organizados e promovidos pela instituição, a fim de verificar as transformações ocorridas não somente dentro do curso na Unirio, mas como estas transformações se alinham com os movimentos da área arquivística no contexto brasileiro.
The Archival Science Course at UNIRIO: a brief history, characteristics and its importance in the setting of Brazilian Archival Science

Unirio’s Archival Science course was the first university-level course in its field in Brazil, originating from the Permanent Archives Course and other random courses of the Arquivo Nacional (National Archives). Because of this peculiarity, it can be considered a landmark in Archival Science in Brazil. This article aims to map the trajectory of Unirio’s Archival Science course – its beginnings, the evolution of its curriculum, the profile of its student body and its faculty, as well as the events in the field organised and promoted by the institution – so as to verify not only the transformations that have taken place within the course at Unirio, but also how these transformations are aligned with developments in the archival field in Brazil.
