Este artigo apresenta relações entre saúde e infância ao longo da década de 1930, período em que havia no Brasil grande preocupação com a situação sanitária e com a formação de um povo forte e sadio, tendo as crianças como elementos fundamentais nessa empreitada. Para contribuir com as discussões realizadas, são resgatados documentos da Cruzada Pró-Infância, instituição que teve papel de destaque na ampliação do desenvolvimento da educação sanitária na cidade de São Paulo. Foram utilizados documentos da década de 1930, apresentados a partir da teoria do paradigma indiciário, buscando confluências entre medicina e história. A partir das argumentações realizadas, pretende-se apresentar as preocupações em torno da infância e seus alinhamentos com preceitos médico-sanitários do período, utilizando como fonte o acervo de um importante equipamento na construção da história da saúde pública paulista.
History, health and childhood: contributions from the collection of the Pro-Childhood Crusade in the 1930
Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
This article presents connections between health and childhood during the 1930s, when there was a great concern in Brazil about the health situation and the formation of a strong and healthy people, with children as fundamental elements in this endeavor. In order to contribute to the discussions, we revisited documents of the Pro-Childhood Crusade, an institution that played a prominent role in the expansion of health education development in the city of São Paulo. We used documents from the 1930s, presented from the theory of the indiciary paradigm, searching for confluences between medicine and history. Based on the arguments made, we intend to present the concerns about childhood and its alignments with medical-sanitary precepts of the period, using as a source the collection of this important institution in the construction of the history of public health in São Paulo.
