Este artigo procura examinar a compreensão do conceito de unicidade pelos arquivistas. A ideia de unicidade está intimamente ligada com a crença de que só pode haver um original de uma obra. Recentemente, alguns defendem que a revolução do computador nos obriga a crer que a unicidade é impossível no mundo digital. Neste artigo gostaria de sugerir que, afim de compreender o conceito de unicidade, precisamos examinar o conceito de identidade, ou semelhança, e o que entendemos como importante.
This paper seeks to examine archivists' understandings of the concept of uniqueness. The idea of uniqueness is intimately connected with the belief that there can be only one original of a given work. Recently, some have claimed that the computer revolution requires us to rethink that uniqueness of any kind is impossible in the digital world. In this paper, I want to suggest that, in order to understand the notion of uniqueness, we need to examine the concept of identity, or sameness, and what we think is significant.
