El gran desafío de los archivistas es preservar los documentos de carácter histórico con seguridad, de forma que se asegure su originalidad, integridad y facilite el acceso a la información con calidad, de forma que atienda a los interesados con precisión y en tiempo hábil, garantizando la integridad y la autenticidad de los documentos preservando a su vez la memoria a largo plazo. ¿Cómo preservar estos documentos de tal forma que se haga uso de la tecnología sin que ésta ponga en riesgo la seguridad y la fidedignidad de la información, si no se conocen las reales condiciones favorables para su guarda, preservación y acceso en el ámbito del proceso archivístico? ¿Cómo interpretar correctamente esa realidad, considerando las políticas de uso, herramientas y disponibilidad de los recursos para adecuar los servicios a las condiciones específicas conservando el patrimonio histórico a largo plazo?
Strategies of preservation of historical documents in digital repositories

The main challenge for archivists is to preserve the historical documents safely so that their originality and
integrity be ensured and the access to quality information be facilitated so that stakeholders can meets it
accurately and on time, ensuring integrity and authenticity of documents while preserving long-term memory.
How to preserve these documents so that the use of technology without jeopardizing the security and
trustworthiness of the information is made, if the actual favourable conditions for their care, preservation and
access in the context of the archival process are not known? How to correctly interpret the reality, considering
usage policies, tools and resources available to tailor services to specific conditions to preserve the historical
heritage in the long term?
