O artigo busca compreender a construção da noção de documentos especiais na Arquivologia a partir do surgimento de novos suportes de informação e a utilização de novas linguagens de comunicação – audiovisual, visual e sonora. Para alcançar este objetivo, recorre-se à literatura arquivística nacional e internacional. Discutem-se os conceitos de arquivo e documento de arquivo, além da noção de informação arquivística, fruto de uma abordagem informacional da Arquivologia. Utiliza-se como eixo central da noção de documentos especiais a linguagem usada na comunicação da informação.
The construction of the notion of special records in Archival Studies

The article seeks to understand the construction of a ‘special records’ notion in Archival Studies, as new information media appeared and the use of new communication languages – audiovisual, visual, and sound – became regular. In order to reach that goal we resorted to the national and international archival literature. The concepts of archive and archival records are discussed, beyond the notion of archival information derived from an informational approach of the Archival Studies. The language used in the communication of information is also used as the central axis of the notion of special records.
