Este artigo apresenta um recorte e aprofunda algumas discussões sobre a pesquisa que resultou em uma dissertação de mestrado, entregue ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Memória e Acervos da Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa. A pesquisa propôs um conjunto de melhorias para o arquivo da Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Candelária, por meio da conservação preventiva. Com base nas metodologias da pesquisa bibliográfica e do estudo de caso, buscou-se uma solução de conservação para arquivo da instituição por meio do acondicionamento de documentos. Como forma de verificar o pressuposto estabelecido, buscou-se responder o problema da pesquisa por meio de um diagnóstico no arquivo da instituição. A revisão da bibliografia contribuiu para a compreensão do conceito de preservação e esclareceu os aspectos preconizados pela conservação preventiva. Apresenta de forma resumida os resultados do diagnóstico e do conjunto de melhorias para o arquivo da instituição.
Preserving ecclesiastical archives: the preventive conservation in a religious congregation archives

This article presents an excerpt and deepens some discussions about the research that resulted in a master's dissertation delivered to the Post Graduation Program in Memory and Collections of Casa de Rui Barbosa Foundation. The research proposed a set of improvements for the archive of Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento da Candelária, through preventive conservation. Based on the methodologies of the bibliographic research and the case study, a conservation solution for archives of the institution was sought through the packaging of documents. As a way of verifying the established assumption, we sought to answer the research problem through a diagnosis in the archive of the institution. The review of the bibliography contributes to the understanding of the concept of preservation and clarifies the aspects recommended by preventive conservation. It summarizes the results of the diagnosis and the set of improvements for the archives of the institution.
