O artigo aqui apresentado refere-se à pesquisa realizada no Arquivo Permanente da Santa Casa de Misericórdia da Paraíba (APSCM-PB), a partir da análise da documentação custodiada pela instituição, tendo como objetivo identificar a estruturação das atividades hospitalares desta secular entidade de caridade, no recorte temporal entre 1858 e 1928. Nesse sentido, a presente pesquisa buscou compreender o percurso histórico orgânico-administrativo da Santa Casa de Misericórdia da Paraíba (SCM-PB), tendo como base Relatórios dos Provedores e tipologias documentais hospitalares encontradas na entidade. A pesquisa, classificada como de natureza básica, teve uma abordagem qualitativa, cujas finalidades foram descritivas e explicativas. O levantamento de dados fez uso do método bibliográfico e documental, sendo que a análise da documentação foi realizada em conjunto com o paradigma indiciário. Esperamos que a pesquisa venha lançar uma nova perspectiva sobre o acervo, a partir da análise proposta neste trabalho.
The Archive of the holy house of mercy as a source for the construction of the history of Paraíba Hospitals

The article presented here refers to the research carried out in the Permanent Archive of the Holy House of Mercy of Paraíba (HHMPB), based on an analysis of the documentation kept by the institution, with the objective of identifying the structuring of the hospital activities of this secular charity in the temporal cut between 1858 and 1928. In this sense, the present research sought to understand the organic-administrative history of Holy House of Mercy of Paraíba (HHM-PB), based on Provider Reports and hospital typologies found in the entity. The research, classified as of basic nature, had a qualitative approach, whose purposes were descriptive and explanatory. The data collection made use of the bibliographic and documentary method, and the analysis of the documentation was performed in conjunction with the indexing paradigm. We hope that the research will launch a new perspective on the collection, based on the analysis proposed in this paper.
