Este texto versa sobre a preservação da memória por meio da imagem gráfica, representada aqui pelas histórias em quadrinhos. Nosso objeto de pesquisa é o quadrinho sul-coreano A espera, de Keum Suk Gendry-Kim (2021). A história que é contada remonta ao início da Guerra da Coreia (1950-1953) e, apesar de o quadrinho não ser factual, e sim apenas inspirado nas histórias contadas pela mãe da autora, o drama vivido nele por milhares de coreanos é real. Utilizaremos como base para a pesquisa Rodrigues (2021), além dos conceitos de memória e História de Le Goff (1990) e de Benjamin (1987). Sobre a linguagem dos quadrinhos e memória, contaremos com Celestino e Lucas (2013) e García (2012). Espera-se entrelaçar os conceitos para demonstrar a potencialidade das histórias em quadrinhos em seus desdobramentos como linguagem gráfica para a preservação de uma memória.
Images of a separation: comics as memory preservation

This text deals with the preservation of memory through the graphic image, represented here by comics. Our research object is the South Korean comic book A Waiting, by Keum Suk Gendry-Kim (2021). The story that is told goes back to the beginning of the Korean War (1950-1953). Although the comic book is not factual, only inspired by the stories told by the author’s mother, the drama experienced in it by thousands of Koreans is real. We use Rodrigues (2021) and the concepts of memory and history by Benjamin (1987) and Le Goff (1990) as the basis for our research. On the language of comics and memory, we use García (2012) and Celestino and Lucas (2013). An interweaving of the concepts is expected for the potential of comics in their unfoldings as a graphic language for the preservation of memory.
