Abstract/Résumé/Resumen
Through the analysis and interpretation of images depicting various topics and periods of Brazilian life in the past, this article establishes theoretical principles that are essential for studies utilizing photographic sources or seeking to understand the aesthetics of photography. Among these principles, the author emphasizes the necessity of uncovering the intrinsic reality of the images. This is because photography, in a broader sense, is instrumental in constructing realities, shaped by both photographers and viewers, as they result from aesthetic and ideological constructions.
