This article makes some considerations about photography as a historical source, relating it to a new conception of an archival document and to what may be the object of the historian work. It emphazises the absence of a methodology for photography analysis and proposes an interpretation. Finally, it indicates the potential of historical investigation of the National Archives photographies.
